The Problem

Foster care is heavy

&

we’re here

to make it lighter.

We are creating a sustainable system for foster youth,

one family at a time.

Half of foster parents quit within the first year. Why? They’re burned out. They’re exhausted from the secondary trauma, the endless meetings, appointments, paperwork and court. They’re tired of carrying the emotional weight of foster care on top of busy, everyday family life. Being a foster parent can oftentimes feel lonely and dark. How can they carry it all and still stay emotionally, mentally, physically & spiritually healthy?

FOSTER LIGHT is here to shine a bright light into the hearts and homes of foster families. We believe all foster youth deserve to grow up in healthy homes and we’re paving the way.

Statistics show that youth that come into foster care will live in 4-6 homes for every 2-3 years that they’re in care. With each move comes trauma and loss. They go home, stay in care or age out with more trauma than they entered with. Each year, there are over 20,000 kids aging out of foster care. Alarmingly, 20% of them are homeless immediately, 25% suffer from PTSD, 20% of them will be incarcerated within 2 years, 70% of the women are pregnant by 21 and only 50% will have jobs by age 24. There are many amazing organizations serving foster youth as they age out, but we feel called to go deeper. We feel called to gain access to kids at a younger age, serving them in ways that will help them leave the foster care system with quality skills, strong character, healthy habits & a healing heart, ready to face the world and have success.

Are you a foster parent interested in WRAPAROUND CARE?

WE WANT TO BRING LIGHT

TO FOSTER CARE.

We believe that pursuing hope & healing for foster families will play a great role in the health and wellness of foster families and their ability to raise healthy and whole children.

It’s unlikely for a tired, weary, unhealthy parent to raise a well adjusted, healthy child, prepared for the “real world”.

We believe that as a community, we can come together to be a conduit of light to those on the front lines saying “yes” to the needs of our country’s most vulnerable children.
